Our Susan G Komen dessert was a very special project for a very special lady. Amy Knobs who has survived breast cancer and now has 2 beautiful young children that keep her quite busy in addition to a full time job with microsoft should be an inspiration to all. Amy wanted to send her husband who had been serving his country in Iraq, a silk pie. I told her that we were not able to do so because of the distance but when he came home on leave I would mark it on my calendar and make sure they had the Silk of their choice when he arrived home. Well he came home and I did as I had promised.
A few months later Amy called me and told me her story. She asked me if there was anything I could do to help her team the "HOT PINK RAPTORS" with their fund raising for the walk. I desingned this dessert, had the team to the bakery so they could choose the dessert that best suited the team and their goals. This is the dessert they chose and to this day Alaska Silk Pie Co. still donates 10% of all proceeds to the Susan G Komen foundation. Won't you please help us in the fight against not only Breast Cancer but "ALL" cancers. |
